Writing my new book on dreams

I have been busy with writing my new book on understanding dreams. This book has been eight years in the making and I’m really excited about it. It will be out in September 2012.

I have interpreted over 25,000 dreams and have trained thousands of dream interpreters over the past decade. I’ve done all the research on the subject and found a way to do what I call “accelerated dream learning”. I can train people in a fraction of the time it took me to become an expert in the subject.

This is a similar concept with my book, Write a Book Quickly: Unlocking Your Creative Spirit. Once I applied these principles I wrote my first book in three weeks, my second book in thirty days, and my current book will take me about thirty days as well to develop the initial manuscript.

Accelerated learning is when you find someone who is doing what you want to do and study how they do it. Build off of their foundation, not duplicating their process, but using it to springboard to a new level. I have had many mentors in my life and I have learned so much from all of them.

The key to learning quickly is to practically apply what you read or hear within the first 24 hours. Another important aspect is to take notes and prepare yourself to ask the right questions that will make what you learned practical. I highly recommend journaling daily. I committed last year to journal every day and my life has changed.

You can look for my new book coming in September. And I will be releasing a video training on this website on all this writing tips and secrets that I use.

Until then happy writing!

Let me tell you about the advantages to writing smaller books and using Print on Demand (POD) services to get them out to people more quickly at a relatively low cost. I have written two full length books (over 200 pages) and several smaller books (under 100 pages). Bigger books are great but you normally have to invest in 1,000 or more printed copies which can be expensive. I have found that more people buy and read my smaller books than the big ones.

If you have a message you want to get out to the world, I highly recommend releasing it in a shorter form or even an e-Book. In this brief video I talk about the advantages of Print on Demand (POD). You can print smaller quantities without breaking the bank. In my book Write a Book Quickly: Unlock Your Creative Spirit, I go into more detail about the advantages of self-publish verses a publishing company and Print on Demand services, eBooks, etc.

Doug Addison on Journaling

I really value keeping a journal as it will not only change your life, it will also help you to learn to write. Learning to write small amounts on a daily basis is what will condition you to tackle larger writing projects like books. Journaling does not have to be difficult. I use a computer journal and simply record daily events, what I did, things that happened, etc. By doing this consistently it will get you in the habit of writing. Then when inspiration or a creative thought or idea comes, you are already in the habit write it down. The more you write the easier it will get. Here’s a short video of me speaking at a conference about the value of journaling. I also have some training videos for how to use The Journal by DavidRM Software for Windows. This is the computer journaling program I used for years and perfected it for daily journaling, dream interpretation and writing. You can visit http://dougaddison.com/thejournal to watch my free training videos.
